It's the Tannhäuser overture by the 19th century German composer Richard Wagner. Portions of the music play throughout the short and I believe the original has no lyrics.

Warner Brothers spoof on Wagner's Ring Cycle. Here's what Wagner music was played (this is chronologic). Opening Scene is from 1). "The Flying Dutchman" 2). Bugs says "Oh mighty warrior of Great Fighting Stock", is from "Siegfried" 3). Elmer says "O Bwunhilde, you're so wowely", from "Tannhauser", 4) Elmer chasing Bugs is from "Rienzi", the ballet scene with Elmer And Bugs, again from "Tannhauser". Bare this in mind. We know that Bugs was Brunnhilde, but Elmer is Siegfried and not Wotan

Also, Bare this in mind. Of all of the Warner Brothers Cartoons that had Elmer and Bugs (Bugs always got the best of Elmer), this is the one where Elmer finally gets Bugs. At the end of the cartoon when Elmer is sobbing and in remorse as to what he did to Bugs, he carries Bugs' body to Valhalla which is from the Opera, "Gotterdammerung"

And its the ONLY cartoon in history to be in both of the mentioned locations that you have posted. I also found out that 4, yes 4 ! different Wagnerian operas were used for that cartoon. "Die Walkure", "Tannhauser", "Rienzi", and "The Flying Dutchman"
